IT IS NOW #30 PER DROP IN UNIZIK AWKA

FROM THE OFFICE OF THE CHAIRMAN HOUSE COMMITTEE ON TRANSPORT,
STUDENT UNION GOVERNMENT (SRC),
NNAMDI AZIKIWE UNIVERSITY AWKA.

ADDRESSING THE SITUATION AT HAND

It has come to my notice of the increase in the price of transport within the school. Information reached me on Saturday morning concerning this new development and it has been a matter of urgent attention. As at Saturday bus drivers within the school collected #30 per drop from students instead of the normal #20. I must confess that i personally was not happy when this information got to me, and the entire student representative council are also not happy about this, as the welfare of the students we represent is our paramount objective, both to protect them and speak there minds.

Investigation were carried out and when i met with the bus drivers as at Saturday they lamented on the difficulty and increase in the cost of getting fuel. A driver told me he had to buy fuel for #150 per litter at a near by gas station. This is not happening just within school alone as the cost of transport outside school i.e ifite to temp site, has also increased. This is not just a school problem as the cost of transportation all over the state are no more the same..
The news of the transport system in school is no better today as most bus drivers now run within school environment for as high as #50 per drop,as fuel is now sold for #200 per litter
The executive arm of the government are doing their best in controlling the situation at hand as the management of the school is also concerned about the welfare of the students as pattern to the transport sector. This is why the unizik intervention buses have been released to transport students to there respective faculties and lecture rooms for as low as #20.
Though we all as students are not really happy about this but we must try to remain calm about this whole issue and ignore those trying to use this situation to paint the new government bad, saying that this is what the executives have always wanted. On this note i will like to inform the entire students that the increment in the cost of transport is NOT DUE TO THE REINTRODUCTION OF TTF, as TTF is not being collected from any driver for running within school environment. TTF is not something that is been collected in secret, it is done in the bus stand and will been seen by all if anything like that is done..
I thereby urge all student to remain positive about the union as we promise to bring things back to normal pending on when the F.G brings the price of fuel to normal..
God bless Nigeria. .
God bless Nnamdi Azikiwe university. .
God bless the SUG.
