President Jonathan Releases Statement On 2015 Presidential Election Result

Official statement by president Jonathan after the announcement of the results of presidential election

Fellow Nigerians,
I thank you all for turning out en-masse for the March 28 General Elections.
I promised the country free and fair elections. I have kept my word. I have also expanded the space for Nigerians to participate in the democratic process. That is one legacy I will like to see endure.
Although some people have expressed mixed feelings about the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), I urge those who may feel aggrieved to follow due process based on our constitution and our electoral laws, in seeking redress.

As I have always affirmed, nobody’s ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian. The unity, stability and progress of our dear country is more important than anything else.

I congratulate all Nigerians for successfully going through the process of the March 28th General Elections with the commendable enthusiasm and commitment that was demonstrated nationwide.

I also commend the Security Services for their role in ensuring that the elections were mostly peaceful and violence-free.

To my colleagues in the PDP, I thank you for your support. Today, the PDP should be celebrating rather than mourning. We have established a legacy of democratic freedom, transparency, economic growth and free and fair elections.

For the past 16 years, we have steered the country away from ethnic and regional politics. We created a Pan-Nigerian political party and brought home to our people the realities of economic development and social transformation.

Through patriotism and diligence, we have built the biggest and most patriotic party in Nigerian history. We must stand together as a party and look to the future with renewed optimism.

I thank all Nigerians once again for the great opportunity I was given to lead this country and assure you that I will continue to do my best at the helm of national affairs until the end of my tenure.

I have conveyed my personal best wishes to General Muhammadu Buhari.

May God Almighty continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

I thank you all.

Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR
President,

Let not your heart be troubled

Let not your heart be troubled for 2nd MBBS students  - Pastor Prince

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you…Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

The night before Jesus died, He gave His peace to His disciples—“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you…” This peace was not just for His disciples, but also for us today. We have His peace.

The moment you believe in Jesus Christ, He who is the Prince of Peace comes to live inside you. And when the Prince of Peace resides in you, every blessing that you will ever need pertaining to your soundness and wholeness is already inside you.

“Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

A troubled and fearful heart works like fingers that clamp down hard on a water hose. The supply of water is flowing from the tap, but little or nothing is coming out at the other end of the hose. God’s ever-present supply of blessings toward you is like the water flowing freely from the tap. But you don’t see the blessings when you allow your heart to be gripped by worry or fear.

So when fearful, anxious thoughts come, remind yourself of Jesus’ words: “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” Even when things appear to get worse, say, “Lord, I refuse to worry about this. In the midst of all this, I see the finished work of Christ. He said, ‘It is finished!’ Your MBBS result will be great. We will celebrate you today.

Beloved, I cannot “let not” for you. Your family and friends cannot “let not” for you. Only you can “let not your heart be troubled”. So guard your heart from being troubled. You don’t have to guard your career, reputation, children or even health. When you guard your heart, God will guard everything else for you!
Thought For The Day

When you guard your heart, God will guard everything else for you!

Amaechi's deputy dumps APC

The deputy to Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, Mr Tele Ikuru, Sunday, dumped his All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, describing the APC “As a party of rebels, insurgents and anarchists, clothed in robes of pretence and deceit.”

Ikuru in a statement said “My dear People of Rivers State, I bring you honest and sincere greetings. Today (Sunday), I address you out of the fullness of my heart. Recall that in December 2013, out of extreme loyalty to my boss and friend, I joined the APC, along with other then disillusioned Rivers People.

“Ever since, as the true nature and motives of APC are unveiled, I have continued to twist and turn in extreme mental and emotional agony. The more I struggle to belong, the more the Rivers man in me rejects the APC.

“After carefully studying, interacting and analyzing the leadership of the party, I have come to the sad conclusion that the APC is a party of rebels, insurgents and anarchists, clothed in robes of pretence and deceit. APC is a party founded on deception and it thrives on unholy propaganda and falsehood.

MORE THAN 30 VIOLINISTS TO EMERGE FROM UNIZIK AFTER NFCS TRAINING

It all started like a dream. Now it is happening. More than 30 members of the St. Camillus de Lellis Chaplaincy are now undergoing intensive violin classes organized by the Chaplain, Fr. Jude Chetanna Chukwuneke, who also doubles as Founder of Youths Alive Development Initiative (YADI). A priest with passion for nurturing young talents and youth empowerment. The chaplain in addition to getting a tutor also subsidized the cost of the violins used by the students.
It will be a thing of joy to see our students graduating with not just certificates but also with skills that can open doors of opportunities for them.

SUNDAY REFLECTIONS: the hour of glory by Fr. Ben Agbara

THE HOUR OF GLORY IS THE HOUR OF THE CROSS BY FR. BEN OGECHI AGBARA
FIFTH SUNDAY OF LENT
Biblical scholars generally divide the Gospel according to John into 2: The book of signs (1:19-12:50) and the book of glory (13:1-20:31). The former shows Jesus bringing different types of people to believe in him through his teaching and the signs he showed. In the latter Jesus begins to announce his exit which will necessarily be through the cross. However, this division of the book is more for academic convenience and exegesis, not really to separate the sign and the glory. From the wedding at Cana the Evangelist records that Jesus revealed his glory when he changed water into wine, which is the first or the alpha sign. The cross itself is also a sign, the omega sign. It's the climax of his signs and it is the fulness of his glory.
He saved the world through the cross. So nearness to the cross is nearness to glory. We should not think that Jesus enjoyed the cross. No, he didn't. What Jesus enjoyed was the glory of God and the salvation of humanity. It was by being raised on the cross that he could draw all men and women to himself.
Jesus invites us to accept the cross as a necessary condition for salvation. It is only only by dying that a grain of wheat bears fruit. We may not experience the cross exactly as Jesus did. Our cross may not be the rituals that we carry out during the lenten season or Holy Week. It may just be a little thing you have to do or forfeit for the glory of God and the good of humanity. Don't just be interested in the signs shown by Jesus. Be a part of it. The cross is the greatest or the omega sign. The new Covenant is sealed by the blood of Jesus on the cross. If you are a part of his cross then you are a part of his glory and a part of the new Covenant. Remember that the hour of glory is the hour of the cross. The hour of glory has come. Let us get involved. Don't forget to pray for a peaceful election in Nigeria and also to get involved in the process. Let the glory of God shine on us and on our land. Happy Sunday. God bless us.

SECURITY TIPS - FORTH COMING ELECTIONS BY PENDUSKY

Dear ZIKITE,

Please be informed of an impending security exercise tagged “SHOW OF FORCE” by government security agencies across the country.
Exercise is being carried out as part of efforts to ensure maximum security before, during and after the forthcoming general elections.

Thus, kindly find below important information and security tips tips.

1. As at today, the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies have been put on high alert and they are expected to conduct periodic and random searches on people, vehicles and various hotspots. Thus, we are therefore advised to cooperate with them during this period; do not abuse security agents, obstruct their work, or resist them unnecessarily to avoid unfortunate repercussions. We have been informed that the Show of Force exercise also authorizes a Shoot-at-Sight order, if necessary

2. There will be restricted movement of people in the hours leading to, and during the March 28th Presidential elections and April 11th Gubernatorial elections. Thus, we are advised to observe and comply with these directives for our personal safety

3. We are advised to adequately stock our homes with required food items during the election period, in case of emergencies, imposed curfews or other threats that may arise after the elections

4. If you are registered to vote and have your Permanent Voters Card, you are advised to go early to the Polling Centers, get accredited, cast your votes and leave the vicinity immediately for your homes to await the results

5. Please do not cluster around polling centers and stay away from groups and bunch of people, no matter the discussion or incident that may have attracted them together

6. Begin now to gather information about your environment and feel the pulse around your intended voting center. Study your polling unit, and if it's packed with miscreants, thugs and unknown faces, steer clear; remember that your life matters more than the vote

7. Dress responsibly and avoid adorning any political attire, party logos etc. to prevent mistaken identity and possible victimization. Please remember that no campaign is allowed during elections. Avoid wearing politically branded T shirts, caps or bearing handbills, posters, pamphlets and banners of candidates. This can pose as a risk.

8. Avoid joining in on inciting discussions at the voting center which may be capable of fanning the embers of political discord amongst the political parties and their agents

9. Stay away from parked cars and abandoned packages, luggage etc.

10. Do not buy drinks, snacks, etc. around polling centers, nor should you share/receive consumables or gifts from anyone at the polling centers. If you sense danger or suspect any foul play, report to the approved Security Agents. Don’t take the law into your own hands!

11. Avoid taking your vehicle, kids or expensive jewelries and other personal belongings to the polling centers

12. As part of security arrangements, Churches & Mosques should be vacated after every service within 1 hour. People should not be allowed to hang or cluster around the religious entrances after services or programs

You are encouraged to be extra-vigilant and law-abiding during this period.

Further information on this will be provided

Take this information very serious. Pass to every member of your family and friends you truly care about.

Thank you.
