POLY-TICKING FOR LIBERTY - KELECHI RAPHAEL ONYENEMEZU

One of the most fundamental documents in history about human rights states that "Men are born and remain equal in rights" (1789 Declaration of the rights of man and of the citizen, Article 1)
Everyone is conceived with the natural right to liberty. This liberty consists of the right to expresion and opinion, fairplay and justice, and to freedom from intimidation and oppression.
A philosophy of Aristotle states that whoever  does not belong to any community is either a god or a beast. Therefore, enshrined as a fundamental human right of our nation is the freedom of association for any person "for the protection of his interests".

This goes as a clarion call to all students of the COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES, NNAMDI AZIKIWE UNIVERSITY, NNEWI CAMPUS, heralding the main event which would determine the state of affairs in the CHS-NAU Students' Government for the next one year and perhaps having echoes in the future afterwards.
It's that time again when students make chioces in their pursuit of perfect liberty and protection of their own interests. It's time for another round of general election in the Students' Association Government.
It's well-known that those who have no good knowledge of history are bound to repeat it. However, in reality, history seldom repeats itself, but it can be made to rhyme a great deal. In a nutshell, being a sidelined, apathetic spectator, or at best, being a passive participant in an event that dictates the state of your own affairs in more ways than one is likely to culminate in unsolicited boomerang by unfolding events, worse still if you do not know the precise role of any association you find yourself as regards your own concerns.
We know the evil of power abuse and misuse but it's no lesser evil to indulge in power disuse and in this case everyone is equally and rightfully empowered. This is a call to join the polity of good interest not inspite of the division it brings but because of it - because good governance unites us much more than poitics separates us.
According to Zig Ziglar, the greatest mistake of all is to  do nothing because you think you can do only a little.
Take away all sentiments and emotional discomfort, all hatred and personal grudge, look beyond just the showmansip and the "yeast of the Pharisees" and see the bigger picture that has good promise. Let us not leave the result to the toss of a coin - to a decision that might lead us into exile for the next one year at least.
Every participant make up a game - from the organisers and cheering spectators  to the technical and damage crew, umpires, and players - and in this game, the result affects us all. So, let each person play his role effectively. Let us become the change we desire to see. Nation-building begins from our local community.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident:
That all men are created equall;
That they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights;
That among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.
That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed"
(Declaration of Independence, paragraph 2)
