The theme of this health week is “the value of a life”, a theme chosen to create awareness, and to remind people the value one life holds, pointing out the reasons why more resources should be invested into the preservation of a single life, regardless of age, race, tribe gender or social strata. As health practitioners we are at the fore-front of this forum as we have been shouldered with the responsibility of preserving human life by reason of the oath we all take. We dedicated our lives to ensure that every
individual is given a second chance at life.
We must at all point resist the temptation to place money or power above
life and maintain the image of decorum and integrity we stand for as health workers. On a larger scale, this theme
also inculcates the role leaders play in lives of their people, it points out that as leaders, irrespective of the level of
leadership, the lives of those who have given their mandates must be respected, upheld and preserved at all cost.
